I had my surgery on Sep. 6th, I have felt great so far until the last few days. Around 4-5 pm I start getting sooo tired. It's not like I get up real early or anything like that. I am up by 8-8:30 am. each day, but the last few days I am sooo tired! I have been falling asleep on the couch by 7 pm. I wasn't tired at all when I first had my surgery, but now I am feeling it every day! I don't know what I need to do to help me have some more energy! Please help if any suggestions!:help: Thanks!

I don't know how to fix it...I'm tired, too! I was never this tired before. I had my band done on 9/5, and every night since I've tossed and turned. There's no pain now, so it's not that. My friend said it could be that I'm not eating enough protein. But, I've been going to bed when my 10 yr old does! I feel so old!

I know, it is very frustrating! I had lots of energy the first week or so and since then I have been sooo tired! I was reading posts about people being really tired right after surgery and I didn't understand why! I had lots of energy right after! :rolleyes But, noe it must all be catching up with me, I am just constantly tired. Before my surgery, I was a total night owl. I could stay awake till midnight or after. Now I am falling asleep before my kids! LOL :omg: I am not sure, maybe it is the protein. I guess I can try geting more in. The problem is how can you get much protein when you are only on liquids??? Thanks for the help though!

I added more protein and it really helped. 2 protein shakes a day and broth for lunch

Nope...I'm still only a week out though....I'm sure I'll be tired eventually! LOL

I have been banded about 3 1/2 weeks and I felt more tired etc. the second week. Actually I have just started feeling like my old self again the last two days. So my advice is to give in to the fatigue and get as much sleep as possible. I was going to bed at 9 and getting up about 12 hours later. I think your body heals this way. Just remember even though you are healed on the outside you probably are still healing on the inside that is why we can't lift heavy items for about 4 to 6 weeks and no vacuuming for 3 weeks. Also make sure you are getting your required protein and liquids.

Thanks for the info! I am glad to hear it is not just me! :waytogo: I guess the best thing to do is just rest in the afternoon that way I won't feel so exausted in the evening! It has been pretty hard to stop and rest with two kids at home though!!! I guess it is something that just has to be done!

Your Welcome! Yes it must be a lot harder with young children at home and not to mention those exhausting teenagers. My son is 31 and lives out of town so its just me and the dog. Good luck to you Missy. I hope you will feel better soon.

I had the same experience and when I spoke with my surgeon he said that it takes about a month or so for the anethesia to completely get out of your system. The result is the lingering evening lethargy. It will pass....I am about two months out now and I have tremedous energy. Hang in there.

I was banded on September 4th and the first week I was very tierd and had to nap in the afternoon and the evening. I talked to my sister who is a nurse and she said it was because I was only taking in 400 calories for the day and I had just ran out of juice. My body wasn't used to running on that little. I tried to increase my calories with an Optifast and it seemed to help. Now that I am eating more, I find my energy has increased a great deal. Hope this helps.

Thanks! That is very helpful. That sure makes sense! I will try and up my calories. Hopefully that will work. It is pretty hard to get many calories in when you are only on the liquid phase, which I still am. But, I will try to get more higher calorie liquids!~ :biggrin1: Any suggestions??? Thanks!:car:
