Help!! feeling anxious....

Hi everyone,

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but now that I have my surgery date (10/4) and have been going to support groups, fitness evaluations, and paid in full my non-refundable program fee.... I am really feeling some anxiety.

I have put so much hope into this surgery to provide the tool I need to be successful long term with getting rid of this weight and changing my life. I keep lingering on all of the what ifs.... like what if food gets stuck if I do not chew it enough....what if I get dehydrated becasue I cannot sip fluids all day at work.... what if the band erodes... I am driving myself crazy. I am a worry wart, but it has gotten to the point where I feel this knawing ache in my stomach and have to take pepto bismal...I already take previcid daily. Is anyone else feeling this way?? Maybe not to the extent I am...but maybe even just a little?? I even checked my bank account last night to see if my check had cleared for my program fee, wondering if I should stop payment. What a nut ball, huh?? It had not cleared yet, but I did not put the stop payment on. My husband tells me to just calm down and everything will be just fine. He knows how motivated I am to change. This will be the first surgery I have had that I had the choice to have or not. (say that 3 times fast!!) I have had my gallbladder out laproscopically and my adenoids out.

I am a circulating nurse in the OR during c-sections...and I have even watched a laprocopic gastric bypass during nursing school a couple years back. I don't know if all of the OR exposure has helped me or made me more nervous. Okay this has been entirley too long of a post, but I am just feeling every emotion out there from scared, excited, dissapointment in myself for not being able to keep the weight off, nervousness...etc. Anyone else having an array of emotions???:help:

We will certianly have to look for each other!! Since we're getting banded so close, if we decide to go back to Dr. G. for fills, maybe we can meet up.

My husband was banded today. I think this actually made me more nervous than if I went first. I got to see first hand every thing they are going to be doing to me in a few weeks. However, I guess it couldn't be that bad. He's been banded less than nine hours and he's outside right now taking the dog out. I hope he knows I'm going to need more pampering than that!:car:

I think it is great that you get to see your husband go through it first, so you can know what to expect-but I bet it also does make you a little nervous. So please fill us in since we are all do to be banded soon. How is his pain after surgery? Is there anything you were surprised by? How is he feeling? Please give us the details so we too can kindof know what to expect... "Yeah" for both of you for taking this big step towards your new healthy thin lives!

Wow rabid, that's great that your hubby is doing so well after surgery.... Congratulations to him on his surgery..... and Good Luck to you on yours coming up soon....

Please keep us posted on how both of you are doing....

Thanks for the well wishes. We're glad we're doing this together. I think it will make it more do-able for both of us.

He feels really good right now. He hadn't even taken any additional pain medication until this morning, and even then he said he didn't feel like he needed it. The only pain he feels is in the actual stiches area. He's not having the gas pains that you hear so much about. He says he was surprised by how quickly it went and how little pain he's had.

It was kinda scary at first because he looked really bad after surgery. But then about an hour after he got up to his room we started walking around the halls. He went right back in his room, got dressed and was ready to go. He was even able to make the long walk out to our car from the hospital. I hope I recoup that quick!

I am scheduled for the LB class on 10/9. I am anxious and nervous. Feeling all the things you are feeling even with your surgery date so close. I am just beginning. Needless to say, I have thought about this for a long time. My husband had gastric bypass 1/07 and he has lost over 100 pounds to date. His health mandated this procedure. I am very supportive of his efforts and he looks great! Secretively, I had become a little green because as hard as I would try to lose weight, I could not keep it off. I would lose 20 pounds and gain back 25. Lost 36 pounds total a month ago, now it has started creeping back up. I have gained back 11 pounds back.

I am a working mom of six and I need all the energy I can get. My weight really effects me, physically and emotionally.

I was surfing the net when I came across this forum. I started to read and I have decided to join. I need your help and support as I make this incredible decision. I am anxious because the ins companies deny these procedures. But my husband was denied first, then they approved him. Lots of paperwork and requirements though.

I'm willing. Looking for only the positive during and after the "first" meeting.
