Why no preop diet?

I've tried to search, but can't find my answer.

For those who were not required to follow a preop diet before the sleeve surgery, did your doctor explain why?

I'm just curious and forgot to ask my dr why they don't require any preop diet for their patients.

Anybody know why some doctors feel it's not necessary?

Same. My doctor joked "he can lift any liver up no problem" but explained that you go through so much change after surgery, why starve yourself before hand if it's not going to help. Now I am on a balanced diet for pre op but nothing that it just liquid or just Protein. This diet just helps cut out sugars and the heavy carbs to get you on the right track mentally.
