Hi from a new one!

I went for my first appointment today, seems to have gone well. I have now been referred to see the doctor asap - can't wait. I have been on a diet for more than 20 years, yo yoing up and down. I have done everydiet under the sun from WW, SW, Atkins, Lighter life, Cambridge, you name it I have done it.

At 42, I feel like I am now taking control!! I am in awe at all of your stories, what inspirations you all are. I can't wait to get it started!!

Thank you H, have you had yours done?

I am both excited and nervous, my friend had one done just yesterday and is doing well today so that has really excited me.

thank you, I was hoping to see the doctor this week but unfortunatly the earliest appointment I could get was September 26th, possible surgery for October 10th if not then when the doc returns from holiday end of October. Bit fed up by that as I had such a lovely gap in my diary up until then!! I am due to move middle of October and I return to college around then too so it is all going to happen together - guess it is just like buses, you wait for ages and three arrive together!! Ah well - as I am boarder line BMI approved, I will just have to not lose any weight before then!!!! I never thought I would ever hear myself say i don't want to lose any more weight before I see the doctor - that seems nuts eh!!

welcome fatwillgo

congratulations . i feel its the best thing ive ever done i have lost 29lb so far since may 07. i went to belgium for my band and it cost me £3,500 best money spent .

have they given you any time scale for having the band done ?

I am seeing the doc on the 26th sept and hopefully mid oct he can do it, well thats what his secretary said. I am glad you are so positive about this 29lb is great you must feel so good after losing that so far, well done, are you in the UK?

Welcome to board. I was banded in February and currently going through a rough patch having just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Like you I had tried all the diets going and kept getting fatter and fatter and eventually peaked at just under 21st 7lbs. I'm now 4 stone lighter and I know that if I hadn't lost the weight I'd be in a far more pain now than I could cope with. At least I am still mobile.

Best of luck with your operation. It will come around sooner than you think and you will soon be reaping the benefits!

Thanks Joanne and Louise for your comments, Joanne, no I am not having it on the NHS I am self pay, but feel it is worth it for me.

Louise I have FM, was diagnosed earlier this year, so losing the weight will be good I know. I too am going to the Bath Clinic, hope you would now recommend it!!
