port site scar

I just had a call from the nurse and she said I could take off my dressings and strips. All are fine except my port site, it is still quite open and a bit wet. I am 10 days post op, do you think this is normal? It doesn't look inflamed or anything but I would have expected it to be closed!

Shall I leave the dirty strips on?

I'll offer my $.02-Take the old strips off-clean around the "open area"- apply some antibiotic ointment (little amount is better)-take some surgical tape & apply it pulling the edges together. You incision site is probably ok as long as it isn't red, warm or draining. Goodluck
