Your hospital bag...

Recommended Posts

I would like to hear what is good to bring with you to the hospital. I heard that you should bring throat spray, mouth moisturizer (like Biotene), anti-gas meds, boredom busters (like puzzles or a Kindle), and loose clothing. Is there anything else you would suggest?

chapstick isindeed super important. I would also add wipies to that list! I felt completely disgusting and wasn't allowed to shower immediately post op and for the first two days or so because of the drain and so on. The wipies were a godsend. Good luck to you! :)

Id bring whatever you think you'll need that can fit in a small bag, depending how surgery goes for you, you may use all of it or you may use non of it. For me, I didn't use anything I brought to the hospital except maybe my slippers... I was really out of it the whole time I was in the hospital, going between sleep, walking the halls and watching a little TV here and there. I never got out the Ipad I brought, I only looked at my phone the last day I was there and only for maybe 20 mins. I never felt like I needed mouth spray, I've heard from others that gas medicine is nice and chapstick is good as well. I bought some sock/slippers and I did use those, it was nice to put on when I walked the halls. I never changed out of the hospital gowns, i just used one in the front and one in the back and felt comfortable enough that I didn't feel the need to change.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
