August 22nd is the date! Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I got a call from the surgeons office and they gave me a surgery date!! August 22nd is the date! I am nervous, excited, anxious and all over the place. I reached my goal weight of 320 two weeks ago and gained 10 lbs since then. (food funeral) Now I have to drop 10 + lbs in three weeks. I started the Protein Shake diet today and hoping to drop the weight fast...

I have help for the first 4 days after surgery. I have asked around and many people have given me different answers for after care. Some people say they needed full time help for 2-3 weeks and some said they were doing normal activities around the house and driving after only a few days...Its confusing so im just going to play it by ear and keep my family on stand by.

I am so anxious for this new life...How long did it take you before people around you started to see results?

Congrats on your date! Exiting times ahead. :) I think your plan to have help and have family on standby is perfect. You can never know how quickly you'll heal until you're actually going through it. August 22nd will be 5 days after my 1 year surgiversary, so if you ever wanna talk to someone who is where you will be in a year, feel free to shoot me a message anytime.

I just got my date too! August 16. I am also filled with alot of emotions. Crying ,happy excited. I had to jump through alot of hoops to make this happen. its been a very long road already. I have been working on this for over a year. I can't believe its finally a reality. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. for the Insurance to call back and say oh there is another test you need to do before we can approve this.

I am August 19th and tons of emotions...excitement and nerves at the top. I know I will be able to eat most food again but I seem to be on quite the food funeral with my husband. I am actually looking forward to my 1 wk pre-op diet to force me to stop this. Good luck to everyone and can't wait to watch your journey.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
