Vacation

My SVG is scheduled for August 29. I am going to Hershey for a few days before while I will be on mostly liquids. Is there anyway I will be happy during this time? I am worried that I'll be hungry and miserable. Husband's vacation had to be picked in January, so couldn't change it. What's your experience?

My surgery was the end of December so I was on my liquid diet through 3 holiday parties, a birthday party, a funeral, Christmas and New Year's Day. I just sipped Water, broth and Protein shakes through all of it. Make your vacation about having fun and spending time with your family, not about the food you can't eat.

(Bummer to be around all that chocolate, though :( )

Vacation was picked in January but I am guessing your surgery date wasnt. You must have thought about some before. You will be fine if you are making an important commitment to yourself. You can do it! However, if you dont think you can, then postpone the surgery to accommodate the trip. No need to be miserable.

Just worried, since I will still have my pre surgery stomach and just be on liquids? Do they fill you enough?

Liquid diets are not ideal but depending on what kind of liquids you can be creative and stay pretty full. Protien drinks and smoothies made me feel full pre surgery. If you get hungry have another one. Thicker Soups like tomato, potato, chowder, etc help too. First few days are the hardest. Sounds like a lot more fun being on vacation than my living room. Make the most of it.
