Help: Itching

I just got banded 8/15 and I talked with my doctor about a lot of things, but he mentioned nothing about the intense itching that I would experience around the incisions. Today is Sunday so I can't call him but I was wondering if anyone else had answers to my questions because if this itching would just go away I would feel pretty great.

Is it normal to be itching?

Is it a sign of Infection?

Anything that I can do to relieve some of the itching?

Anyway thanks again.

HAHAHAHA!!! That's called HEALING! Very typical. Those incisions are starting to knit. My itching didn't start until after a week or so and I would find myself furiously scratching and then all of a sudden it would hurt and I'd go YIKES! You're probably a fast healer! I got pretty good at scratching around the incisions after a while. You just gotta be aware of what you're doing and not forget and accidentally rake your fingers across the sensitive spots! Congrats on your banding!

Hi, Ashley.

I was banded on the 14th and I am an itchin', clawin' FIEND right now!

Seriously though, it does help if you very carefully apply lotion BETWEEN the incisions, so when you scratch AROUND them, you don't further aggravate THAT skin.

But I'm even itching on my back and legs -- I'm trying to remember if I read something about surgery drying your skin out -- the anesthesia and oxygen or something.

Anyhow, HAPPY HEALING!:whoo:

I remember itching really bad dont worry someone told me it is just your nerves etc re growing mine still itch sometimes now and I am 4 months post op!!

ashley,

I was also banded on the 15. The itching is driving me crazy! I have a rash all over my stomach. The nurse told me to take benedryl, but not with the pain meds. I see the Dr. tomorrow so I will ask. Good luck.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I looked at my husband and said, OMG, my stitches are so itchy today, and then I opened this thread and you were banded the same day as me. Nice to know I am not going crazy.....well...more crazy! ;)
