    My NUT's guidelines specifically say to avoid collagen based protein and the absorption rate is poor compared to whey or soy isolate.

I was told the same thing. Collagen is a poor form of protein that isn't well absorbed. I was told to always look for whey isolate as the primary ingredient in any protein supplement.
