I am currently waiting for Insurance approval for the lap-band.

When my Doc and dietitian told me that after the lap-band I need to eat sugar free, I just accepted it as fact. No more than 5 grms of sugar per serving. But my mom asked me if there was a medical reason for this. I have just been going on "because they said so". Is there a particular medical reason behinds this other than to get you on a healthier diet?

Thanks!!

I think bypass patients must not eat sugar rich foods because of the dumping syndrome. However, I think we can but it is not advisable for weight loss. I know I was sucking on a lollipop soon after surgery (2 days post-op) because I could not eat hardly anything, the nut said it was OK but not to make it a habit. Then again I am not sure.

I believe- but am not sure- that is because sugar spikes your sugar levels, giving you a high, followed by a crash and desire to eat more sugar to get back on that high. And the cycle keeps going, and we keep gaining.... so no sugar, the cycle is broken and we lose faster.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
