UHC Insurance question!

I am starting the process and have UHC insurance. I have to do the six month supervised diet. My question is this... I did a program through a weight loss clinic from June to Dec of last year. I have documentation on paper from them, but the clinic is no longer in business...do y'all think the insurance company will accept it, or will I probably have to do the six months over?

  • Mine wouldn't accept it. Even with documentation. It sucked! But I know it'll be worth it. 1 month down, 5 more to go! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  • I have UHC too. They did not accept mine either. Two months down, four to go! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  • I have UHC also, and just had my 4th nutrition appointment. 2 months more, I am actually starting to get a bit excited!

The insurance coordinator at your surgeons office would be able to look at them and answer that question.

So they required you to start the 6 months after you submitted the approval paperwork? Does your 6 months have to be with the surgeon? Obviously using my PCP is more affordable.

It doesn't have to be. My surgeon actually asked me if I would rather work with them or my PCP.

I'm still waiting to find it if UHC is going to accept my previous weight loss appointments with my PCP. Thursday will be my two week mark since submitting it. Hoping to hear something back soon.

Call them. Usually if reminded they'll do it that day!

When I called them they told me they would notify the surgeons office and I would be fining out from them not UHC. They were rude the day I called them. I've ready received a call from the nurse line regarding my "up coming surgery" so I'm assuming it is approved.
