Does it get easier to get in your fluids?

I'm one week post op and have one more week of a clear liquid diet left and then another two weeks of liquids but I can have creamier things.

Anyway, all.day.long I'm shoving broths and Water and Popsicles and disgusting clear Protein drinks in my face and I'm full and I don't want anymore! But I have to!

My surgeon scolded me for not meeting and/or exceeding the 64 oz minimum so last night I stayed up until 11 pm, tired as hell, to get the fluids in.

Please tell me it gets easier!

  • It gets much easier. I work out a lot and I'm surprised how fast and how much water I can drink while doing that. I can gulp water now at 6 mos out just like I could before the surgery.

  • I'm so glad to hear that. I'm not discouraged or anything but feeling a little overwhelmed today! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  • I'm 3 weeks out today and still struggling getting my fluids in, but it's better than the first week and better than last week. Everyone here has been so encouraging and it's helped so much. I think

Wait...

You mean to tell me that I won't be stuck SIPPING for the rest of my life? I totally misunderstood that! Oh my god, you literally just made my day. I miss chugging SO MUCH.

I can probably drink 5 to 7 ounces at a time now during a hard workout. It took a few months, but it does come back. I do want the water cold now, where before surgery I preferred it more like room temp.
