Hi Everyone!

So I have started the journey to WLS... looks like I've decided to go with the Gastric Bypass.

My insurance will cover it as long as I do everything on their list. I've noticed so many talk about 6 months of nutrition classes, and from what I understand I am very lucky in that I don't have to jump that hurdle... thank goodness!

I have finished almost everything they have asked of me, with my last nutrition class on Thursday morning. I'm really hoping to get the surgery next month because I'd like to have time to heal before summer really kicks in!

I'm exicted and nervous about this, but mostly excited.

I do find it interesting how many different paths each one takes according to their doctor and insurance... I would have expected more continuity on all of this - for example, my doctor doesn't want me drinking Premier Protein shakes after surgery... Bariatric Advantage, or Chike brands... according to the nutritionist, the Premier Protein ones don't have the 'right' Proteins to absorb... but I actually really love Premier Protein Shakes, and drink them now for Breakfast.

I live near Oklahoma City... anyone else out there close to me?

Anyway, just wanted to say hello, and looking forward to learning so much from all of you!

Welcome! Yes, there are many different stories of doctor and insurance requirements before surgery is approved. Best of luck and hopefully we can help you along the journey.
