I am tickled that I just found out that I have been accepted into the Kaiser Oregon bariatric program. I had not heard back a week after my referral was sent...being impatient I called to confirm that that my information was received and to ask when I could except to learn the outcome. I was told that I was denied do to the lack of previous weight loss attempt. (Mind you I have been 100lbs overweight and yo yo-ing for over 10 years). The nurse explained that weight watchers, Jenny Craig and such all counted. I let her know the approximate dates that I used Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers and Medifast. She stated that she would resubmit the request and approve it! I am finishing up the Mastering Weight Management requirement now, and am scheduled for orientation next month..the week after my class ends.
I was nervous as to whether I would be accepted as my BMI is borderline at 39.6, but I do have obstructive sleep apnea, knee and hip pain. I am just thrilled but only sharing the news with a few close family and friends.
