Workout after Lap surgery

Hey guys,

I am scheduled for my lap surgery on February 24th and trying to get as ready as possible.

I am wondering how long after the surgery I will be able to exercise. When did you start and what kind of exercise did you do?

It's fairly standard to not work out for 4-6 weeks post op but you should check with your doctor to be sure. I swim so I had to wait six weeks to completely heal the incision before getting in the pool. Walking however was encouraged from Day 1

It's up to your Dr.....I was cleared after one week, but then told to take it easy on weights....

But then every Dr. knows his/Her patients....this was me....I know he told other patients differently.

walking right away, swimming at four weeks (they told me I could do it once the surgical glue and scabs were gone, which was at about four weeks). They told me not to do weights until eight weeks out, I believe.
