pre-surgery nerves 4 days out

I am in the short rows now, surgery is four days away (Monday Dec 28). I went for pre-op testing and appointment with the surgeon Wednesday morning, and it really has set in now, that this is going to happen. I am super excited, but I must admit, the pre-surgery jitters have me. Its nothing new, the nerves always get me before any surgery. Lordy Lordy

  • Let's see... I was blessed (or maybe not) with only having to do a 1 day liquid diet before surgery. I thought,,, one day, that's no big deal!! A whole lot better than 2 weeks like some are having to

  • I'm on the 28th too! I'm trying to have a positive attitude about it all but its just human nature to worry a little but I know Jesus has my back and will see me through Good luck everyone and merry

  • I actually started my liquid diet on December 7th, because I and my patient navigator were hopeful that my insurance would approve before end of the year, and there was a chance that my surgery would

Congrats and best wishes to everyone that has their surgery tomorrow!! I start my prep for mine on the 11th tomorrow! :)

Ok, I had my surgery yesterday and I am doing OK this morning. I will say after I woke up from recovery, I was in the worst pain ever!!! After they got it under control though, I was fine. They also said as soon as I woke up my very first words was "I need to walk, they told me the gas pain would not be as bad if I walked", they thought that was funny since I was subconsciously talking and I got a laugh out of it when they told me. They told me as long as I keep doing good like I am, I could go home around noon :D. Hope all is well with everyone else, please update as soon as you can, I would love to know!!

You are so lucky to only have to do a one day liquid diet! I had to skip every Christmas gathering this year, because they are all heavily centered around food. Better to just skip them, than fight the urge to sneak a bite!

Tomorrow is our day, I am about to sign off and try to get to sleep early tonight. (I suspect that sleep will elude me tonight though). Good luck and best wishes tomorrow and during recovery!

@destiny_77 Everything went great! I am surprised how little pain I had. I agree with you, that when I woke up in recovery, the pain was horrible, but they quickly had it under control. I expect the soreness will probably get worse in the next couple of days. I was discharged this morning, and home now. The only issue that I ran into while in the hospital is, I was doing a lot of walking without shoes, only the hospital socks, and my calfs and shins are sore as the dickens. I mentioned the sore legs to the nurses, and this morning the surgeon decided to send me down to have ultrasounds to make sure I didn't have clots, before he would discharge me. I knew it wasn't clots, but I respect that he was cautious enough to make sure.
