Pre-surgery Jitters

Hi Everyone,

My VGS surgery is scheduled for 12/28. I have been so focused getting through all of the steps to get to this point, that I haven't had time to be nervous. Now that I am in a waiting phase... I am getting a bit scared to do this. I need to start my liquid diet on 12/23, and I am afraid I won't be able to stick with it over Christmas. Also - very concerned about failing to lose weight AGAIN. Can anyone help me with tips and tricks for not driving myself crazy before the surgery?!?

Thanks!

Karen,

It's ok to be nervous  but don't let it get to you! I would go through and make sure you are prepared for the surgery, etc. and then try to keep busy. Drink loads of Water. You CAN do this. Starting a liquid diet on 12/23 is going to be hard, but it's not impossible. Don't think of it as NEVER having anything you love ever again - you can have some next year. If you do slip, get right back on track. I'm sure you have worked very hard this surgery and you should be proud of your accomplishments so far. YOU GOT THIS!

It is normal to have jitters, I did. I agree that you should find things to do that keep you busy. Make sure everything is in place so you are not stressed about household things after surgery and you can relax and recuperate.

That's the thing about Christmas, it WILL come around next year too. Don't worry about what you can't have but focus on what you are giving yourself. Enjoy your family and have great conversations not centered around food.

Sit back and truly take it all in and be thankful for the best Christmas present ever. Good luck!!

Wow r u sure u have to start liquid diet that soon...I just had surgery on Dec 16 and I was told to start my full liquid diet on Monday than an all clear liquid diet on Tuesday. So that seems a little weird to me...what kind of surgery u having
