What type of preop diet is everyone on and how long before surgery do you have to start it?

My Dr. has me on no-carbs of any kind starting 10 days before surgery.

Just curious, there seems to be a bunch of different preop diets out there.

Congratulations to eveyone for getting their band dates.

my preop diet is low carb- i stopped drinking soda(very difficult) and am trying to limit my caffeine consumption- so far I have only lost about 7 pounds- 10 days prior to surgery is complete liquid diet-my dr is very strict-hopefully some more pounds will come off then...

My Dr does not really require a pre-op diet, and yes, I am counting my blessings! However, I am trying to limit my carbs and I have stopped drinking soda. I think the worst thing for me will be the separation of drinks and meals. I am DREADING that.

mdicurn - I agree with you. Not drinking with meals will be hard to get used to for me too. I guess we can take solace that we are not in this alone. :)

bubblebelly - Is your surgeon in Mexico?

stacy73 - Congrats on 7 lbs down. You're already making the scale move in the right direction.

WOW...SEPT 20th seems to be a popular date for this crowd.

welcome.gifWelcome everyone. I would love to hear all your experiences with surgery, so please keep the posts coming.

My band date is 6 weeks today. :)

My pre-op is low carb-slim fast, SF Jello, SF popcicles, and low sodium broths and thats it. Oh and lots of exercise...

I have already been experimenting with the all liquid thing. I did it just for 4 days last week. Lost 6 lbs. Its really not that bad. By the morning of day 3 I was not even hungry until 2 that afternoon. So that was when I had my first shake. We'll all get through it I suppose.

:heh::kiss2:Hi all my name is Rhonda and I am dying for a change!! I went last Thursday for my psych eval and nutritionist eval and I guess all I have to do now is wait 2 weeks untill all info is in to the Docs. :clap2: I am excited and hoping all goes well but I just really dont know what the next step is, I have not even met the Docor yet for a consultation but the good thing is that my insurance covers this in network Doctor for my surgery and they said all I need is a precert. for my surgery and yaaa.

Does anyone know what how:ranger: much time after your initial consultation with the Doctor doing your lap band takes before you get the surgery? I am a nut case lol:help: I am excited abut meeting new friends and hearing their great oucomes of the lap band...

Take care all:whoo:Rhonda:kiss2:

I don't have a date yet - have just been approved! I'm assuming it will be sometime in September. I'm so excited!

Hi Rhonda!

I think the time really varies from person to person. Some folks are able to get all their testing done and breeze through the insurance process, then have it all done in a month or so. Others, like me, have been working for nearly a year.
