Coconut oil

Recommended Posts

I read a lot about the benefits of coconut oil both internally and externally. Just wondering if anyone uses it and how? Have you been able to notice a difference?

Thanks!

Its so funny, 101 uses for coconut oil.

Studies have found it is helping with dementia.

It has a high smoke point. great for stir frying. It will not burn as quickly as butter.

I mix it with turbinado large grain sugar to exfoliate my skin in the shower. The moisture is fantastic.

I agree with as moisturizer, also when warmed becomes fantastic massage oil, and when mixed with epson salts will work better than a walk on beach or pummis stone for softening feet. But I do most of my cooking with it now. But I will warn it splatters more than olive oil and it's highly flammable if you have a gas stove.

I haven't cooked with it yet , but I love it as a moisturizer for any dry skin , use it on dry feet with a pair of cotton socks. Safe for everybody including the elderly, babies and pets ! My little dog gets a teaspoon every night, vet appproved. Its great at removing makeup too ! If you use it to moisturize your hair a little bit goes a long, long way and takes extra time to wash it out, so plan accordingly. I also love a teaspoon of it to eat, but then I love anything coconut !

I have heard about this. I don't drink coffee yet. If I do start someday down the line it's something I would love to try.

I've heard about the benefits of coconut oil, but also warnings against it because of the high saturated fat content. It seems like the jury it still out, so I'm sticking with olive oil for now.

I've used it for years and of course I started because it was supposed to be good for weight loss. Lol. There are two kinds; the pure oil in liquid form, and a solid that spreads like butter. The oil has no flavor and the solid tastes like coconut. You can use either for any purpose if you melt the solid. I happily use them both as much as possible. Coconut oil is good for your hair and skin and even has mild sunblock properties. Frying with it makes foods much healthier to eat because it is a medium chain. I also use it as a carrier oil for essential oils. Gee, I sound like a commercial! It makes the best brownies.....sigh.....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
