I'm pre op and just wondering how long some of you were off of work. I know its going to vary, but I read the average recovery time is 2 weeks. 2 weeks is about the longest I can take off work so I'm hoping that's all I need. My job is pretty sedentary so I should be fine.

I was off 3 months due to Complications but had planned 6 weeks since I had the sick time

The plus side is I can take as much time off work as I need, but for financial reasons I only want to take 2 weeks. My issue will be that my job does not allow light duty or restrictions, but my surgeon made it clear he doesn't want me to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for 6 weeks. I'll have to find some way to work this out.

I'm a vet tech and have an active job...on my feet, bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting all day. I went back to work after 7 days and was fine. I only had a 20 pounds lifting restriction for 3 weeks, and then was back to the usual 40-60 pounds. I was on full liquids for 3 weeks as well, so made sure to have plenty of drinks and protein shakes at work.

I plan to take 2-3 weeks. Less if possible, but I don't want to rush things.

I had surgery on a Thursday and went to work on Monday morning. I had no problems.
