Using Guarana after surgery?

I love Monster Java Energy drinks, but I know that I won't be able to drink them after surgery because of the high carbs and sugar.

Have any of you use Guarana after surgery for energy? I take it in pill form occasionally to help me stay alert. Works much better than caffeine for me, but I can't seem to find any info about it in regards to having VSG. I'm getting it mixed with organic coconut Water and using in my mid-day Protein shake and it is AWESOME...just hoping I can keep using it after surgery!

Guarana's stimulant effect comes from caffeine. Look it up. I just did because I didn't know what it was.
