Small Bowel - Blind Loop

Hi Everyone

I had my Gastric Bypass done March 3rd 2011 and have had everything happen that they said could happen.

I am now dealing with a small bowel obstruction almost everyday. Sometimes I am having to to the hospital for pain management and have had 10 obstructions and 2 hernias operated on.

I would like to know if anyone else has had these kinds of complications and how your doctor fixed it. I am at my end with all the suffering and getting depressed fast.

Thanks in advance.

So sorry. I had a small bowel obstruction about 6 months after RNY. It was emergency surgery. Then the hernia reappeared a year later. I had a repair and a diastasis recti (abdominal wall repair) in December. So far so good.

I too had a re-emergence of a decades old hernia to be repaired next month. Not uncommon from what my surgeon told me. loss of muscle mass show flaws hidden that have been overgrown by muscle that is now lost. It stops pretty much when your weight loss stops, I think I'm at that place now ( grateful ! )

Hi -- you might want to google dr. Andrew Elkwood and his BARS procedure. It was specifically designed for recurrent hernias. I was supposed to have it, but did not because he was able to repair the hernia with mesh and sutures. He's in central NJ. Susan
