Did I stretch my pouch?

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am 8 weeks post op. Today I aciidentally ate and drank at the same time. This was the first time I had done this. I only drank a little bit, maybe a few ounces. Do you think I stretched my pouch? I know that I'm probably overreacting, but I'm really concerned. Thank you for your help!

Nope. You'll be fine. The main issue with eating and drinking at the same time isn't the risk of stretching your pouch, it's that it makes it easier to eat more, because it allows food to pass through your sleeve more easily, more like a puree. Drinking too soon AFTER eating is a more likely culprit to overfill your sleeve. Still probably wouldn't stretch it though, just make you feel overfull and sick.

No, it doesn't stretch. The stretchy part is gone. Over time, you will be able to eat more because your stomach (pylorus) gets better at processing your food (you won't have to chew to mush forever either).

Eating and drinking is not advised for two reasons: early post-op, it hurts because your food sits longer and you don't have the space. It HURTS bad if you do too big of a sip. Later on, it isn't good because it flushes food trough faster and you end up eating more or getting hingry sooner.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
