I got approved! What's next?

I had my first appt with my surgeon on 1/12/15. I completed all my testing and my surgeon's office sent all the information to my insurance (BC/BS) on 2/10. I just received my letter in the mail today that they also approved my surgery on 2/10. Who would've thought that they approved it in less than a day when the surgeon's office told me it could be 2 to 8 weeks. Now I wonder what happens next. Do you automatically get a date from the surgeon and then it is surgery or do you have to go through pre-op classes? I do know from seeing the nutritionist that I have a 1 week pre op diet consisting of liquids and lean meats and vegetables. I would like to hear others experiences from approval to surgery and any tips you have on shopping for pre-op and post op diets. Thanks

I would imagine offices vary a lot. I had orientation groups months ago where we went over what to buy and have for each of the 4 phases they have. Plus visits with the NUT and lots of literature to help me out.

After everything was done My surgeons office called about my approval ...which was less than 24 hours after submission. Then they called the next day to schedule for pre op appt and the surgery. I picked the date which was 3 weeks away but could have been sooner if I wanted. Pre op diet varies so much you are better just waiting to talk to your doctors office. I only have to do one day of Clear Liquids. My surgery is next week and I am stocking up with a variety of Protein powder samples, sugar free Jello, pop cycles, and fruit juices...which are only for the first week and have to diluted. I am not buying too much stuff as tastes can change.
