Post op skills class

Recommended Posts

My doctor's office has what they call an advanced skills class. I have been attending since surgery because I figure that I need all the help I can get. The purpose of the group in the past was to help individuals who have undergone bariatric surgery to minimize adjustment issues, to improve adherence with the post-surgical regimen, and to help individuals who have experienced premature weight plateaus or weight regain get back on track. We have had open discussion, topical groups, and/or skills training formats.

This week I'm going to the meeting discuss the future format. They are looking for feedback on how to make it more effective. Right now it's more of a lecture format with the psychiatrist leading it. I feel lucky to be involved in shaping the structure of this year's classes. What do you think would make you more effective after surgery?

Never really thought about a class like this. We have support groups but they invite both pre & post op.

I guess the most obvious thing to discuss might be body dysmorphia. Many of us have been overweight for so long it may be hard to see ourselves as thinner.

Another topic could be how to handle social situations with food.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
