We had very few trick or treaters here in Chicago because of temps in the low 40's and 50 mph winds. So, the candy bowl sat by the front door all night and Saturday morning I was have mini-Snickers bars for Breakfast. Knowing that I couldn't do that all darn day, I asked my boyfriend to put the candy away where I could not find it - and then please just take it to work the next day. With that done, it was easier to get back on track right away.

I made sure to give away all the candy only to have my son bring in like 8 pounds of it from trick or treating. I let him have his fill until Sunday morning. I offered to buy the remaining candy from him for $5. He jumped on that deal. We bagged it up and I took it to work and set it out for everyone to eat. It was gone by the end of the day and I saved myself (and my son) from grazing on it for the next week or two.

Like the $5 trick. I am lucky that my downstairs neighbors took care of the trick or treaters and I got to sit back and watch a Walking Dead marathon that night.

There's a local business in town buying all the Halloween candy kids want to sell. They are also asking for the kids to write letters and draw pictures and then sending everything to the troops. That way the kids make a little money, they don't fill up on candy and junk and the soldiers get a nice treat from home.
