Hernia ?

I have seen a lot of people saying they also had a Hernia repair. Do you know about having a hernia or are the discovered during Surgery. Sorry if this is a dumb question but feel more comfortable asking you guys than my Dr.

No stupid questions! Through all my testings and scopes, no hernias found. But when they got in and started doing surgery they saw one near my belly button! They repaired while gettin sleeved! Who knew! I never knew I had one! Good luck!

I knew I had a hiatal hernia; it was diagnosed during pre-op testing.

Mine wasn't discovered until during surgery. I found out after that he found it and repaired it.

Thanks so much! Now I just need to get approved!

Just as Sleevarilla, I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia pre-op. Mine was found after my ECG. The first doctor told me he wasn't sure if it was a hiatal hernia or if it was an ulcer. Another doctor, Dr. Roc Bauman said it was definitely a hiatal hernia and he would fix during gastric sleeve surgery.

Everyone is right. Some people's are discovered before and some during surgery. Matter of fact your consent form should have "possible hernia repair" on it, so that you are providing authorization for any found hernias to be repaired during surgery.

Fixing a hernia is important, but what is also imperative is ruling out gallbladder disease before surgery. DO NOT LET THEM OVERLOOK THIS STEP!!! If your gallbladder already has signs of disease (sludge and stones), advocate for yourself so that it gets removed during the sleeve!
