Is anyone from TN.?

Hello I am Robbie and I am from TN. I have talked to my Doctor and she has sent my paperwork to my insurance, she said it shouldn't be a problem to get the Lap Band cause I am 5'1" and weigh 263 lbs. My BMI is 49.7. She said it would take about 6 mths, and that i would have to go to nashville about 4 times before the surgery.

When do they fill the band for the first time, and do you lose weight before they fill it? I am excited and scared too. any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello fellow Tennesseans I am in Hendersonville. for those of You who are Dr Mortons patients He is a great doctor and his staff are wonderful. Dr morton performed my surgery on Oct. 2,2006 and I have been THRILLED with the results. (75 pounds so far). I have recommended a few friends and coworkers to him and they are doing well also.

Welcome Bob ! You are doing great! Yes Dr. Morton is a good doctor, I really like him and his staff, I always feel at ease when I go in there knowing they are gonna be behind me and there to help with any thing I may ask. have a great weekend, glad you are doing so well!

Hi, I am Terry. If you should look at my profile, I am not 92. I made a mistake typing in the date. I am 57.

I live in Giles County about 15 miles south of Pulaski, almost on the Alabama line.

Dr. Ablert Spaw is my doctor. I will be having lapband surgery on June 12 at Baptist Hostpital in Nashville

Thanks,

Wild place there in Cambllsville. I know. I grew up in the Richland School area about 8 miles east of the present school.

We went there to buy a bass boat and got lost, lol. So I feel I know the place now, been all over it!! Nice to meet you, I had surgery at Baptist too, did fine as soon as you get up and walk down the hall they let you go home. Good luck!!

Hi robby. you will lose weight before surgery as the preop diet is very strict. they won't fill the band until 3-4 weeks post op. good luck!

Hi all , I'm from Crossville and don't know when I'm having surgery. I':nervousve been searching the web for 6 mo. trying to decide on where to have it done. I will have to pay myself so was considering going to Mex. but am concerned if I should have complications.

ckbw,

I know that I am fortunate to have insurance that pays. The surgeons who practice at Baptist Hospital in Nashville come highly recommended, but the cost is about average. If you want to contact them, let me know and I will send the information.

There is a doctor in colorado that does the surgery for 9950.00. There is a thread for him under doctors and hospitals.

Well I do have a doctor now, he is Dr. Madan from Memphis, has anyone heard of him? I have done some research on him he did the first laproscopic gastric bypass in Memphis and his experience level seems high. Robbie

My brother's ex-girlfriend works as his nutritionist. I'm not sure how many bands he's done. He seems to do mainly RNY, from the way she talked.

Since you are looking for someone in Memphis, have you checked out Dr. Virginia McGrath-Weaver over at St. Francis? That's who will be doing my surgery. I asked her office manager about how many bands she's done, and she said that Dr. McGrath-Weaver's done well over 100 of them, since she did a bariatric fellowship. Her center's also the only Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery in Memphis.

Well you see I have tenncare and this is who they sent me to, so I guess this is who I have to see. I am going to have to finish 3 more weeks of weight watchers before i can do anything else anyway. I may have to start over and do the whole 12 weeks, if they approve me. I hope I hear from them soon. Thanks for the name though if this one don't pan out i will look into that one.
