Hello All. I'm in month 1 of my supervised diet that my insurance requires. According to the Surgeon, I should expect to have surgery around December. The "issue" is, I broke my ankle last November and am still walking with a crutch because of the way the surgeon "repaired" the break. Now I am scheduled for a 2nd surgery with a new Doctor to correctly repair my ankle. This surgery is set for November 13th. I chose to wait until November because that's when my FMLA Coverage starts over since I used all my available coverage during the first surgery. Here's where I need advise; would you suggest having the ankle surgery first, or the sleeve? I know with the ankle surgery I won't be able to put any weight on my ankle for about 1 1/2 -2 months. Any and all advice is appreciated

Considering that you won't be able to put much weight on your ankle it might be better to do the ankle surgery first, let that heal then do the sleeve. Because after the sleeve surgery it is very important that you stay mobile and continue to walk after surgery because there is a high risk for clots. Most surgeons tell you that after sleeve surgery hours later they start u walking to prevent clots and it may be hard for you to do that. But you should ask the surgeon who is doing your ankle and sleeve and see what they both think that way you all are on the same page! ! Good luck to you

I was thinking the sleeve first because in my mind, a lighter me would be helpful with healing my ankle. But I didn't know about the walking after surgery. Guess I'll have to see what they suggest. Sleeve first and get a prescription for a "Roll-a-bout" to use after ankle surgery. Best wishes!
