Meeting for SEPTEMBER IS CANCELED

  • 10 months later...

Just south of Raleigh here. Hubby works in RTP. We are both in the process of pre surgery testing.

What surgeries are you guys having? I'm having my band done and Wesley long hospital.

We are both having a Gastric Bypass at WakeMed Cary. Looking like we will have almost all the pre testing done by September 1. There may be 3 left.

That's great! Are you planning on having the surgeries at the same time?

That's our goal. We have no family here so we have to see if we can find someone to come be a "babysitter" if not the we will have to go separate.

I don't have any family here either, except my son. He's 8 though so he will staying with a friend while I have the surgery. My mom is coming down for the surgery and will be here for a few days.

Our children are all grown. We are hoping that either one will be able to come stay for a week or that my sister n law can come.

Have you been to any of the support groups around here yet?

Not yet. The hospital I'm having surgery at has 2 different support groups but I haven't been to any of them yet. One of them is during the day so I doubt I'll make it to any of those but I am going to try to make the evening ones.

Based on my experience, my recommendation would be for ya'll to have it done at least a month apart; unless you have some really good supportive help staying at your house while both of you recover. I was pretty much bed ridden for the first 4 weeks and depended solely on my 17 year old son and my husband.
