What can I do to prep pre-op?

Recommended Posts

I'm having my surgery 4/16. I'm the mother of three and my husband travels a lot so I'm trying to use the next two weeks to prep food, etc so I'm equipped for after the surgery in case he goes out of town. Any suggestions on prepping food ahead of time? I know I will be on Clear Liquids then regular liquids then purees so the liquids part will be quick to fix as I need it. But what about purees. Any suggestions on purees to freeze? I want to be ready because I will be right back in mommy mode then back to work shortly after.....any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The first couple of weeks you will be eating Soups and other liquids. The purees starting at week 3 can be most anything. I pureed chicken and tuna and added a little sour cream and a little light mayo for chicken salad and tuna salad. I cooked a roast in the crock pot and pureed that in the food processor as well but not till week 4 or 5. I wouldn't waste a lot of time pureeing a lot of food since it will only be for a week or two. You can use grits, oatmeal or scrambled eggs as a meal too. I just altered the food I cooked for my family. If they wanted hamburgers I would just cook some loose ground beef and have that with a little bit of mashed potatoes. It was tasty and went down very well. You have to plan your meals but don't over think things, its easier than you think.

Ok, thank you. I am definitely overthinking everything. It's like I'm in that "nesting" stage when you are pregnant. Trying to get everything ready for my new post op life. I think a lot of it is nerves, too.

My surgery is also scheduled for 4/16. I can relate to the nesting stage :). I will send you a private message so we can stay in touch trough the process!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
