Just had surgery today! :)

I'm extremely excited for this next chapter in my life! However today after surgery I had doubts and regretted doing it only because I was in so much pain! I don't do well with anesthesia...it makes me extremely nauseas! And had pains in my chest from surgery. I told my nurse I would rather have another c section than go through this!

The pain meds help a little but that zofran has not kicked in at all! I tried sipping a little but it just makes me want to throw up!

Anyone ever have extreme nausea problems?

  • I did not want to puke/jeopardize my inicision line of the new stomach. Phenergan is stronger. Bad for IV tho. Compazine if they have it. Scopalamine patch the anesthetist gave me prior to surgery.

Yes. Vomiting was my worst fear. Didn't want to jeopardize my staple line. Ask for Phenergan, Compazine or 'scope'/scopalamine patch are stronger. Stay strong. Welcome to the rest & best of your life!

Oh sorry I didn't know if the first one I wrote posted. ;)

I had the nausea patch and zolfran. I did well on both.

The 48 hours in hospital seemed like hell.... It gets better!!!

I threw up several times a day for the first 5 days out of surgery. It was so painful and they tried many drugs to make it stop and finally found one that helped and I was then able to go home finally

Thanks everyone! They had me on Norco (hydrocodone-acetometaphine) and that was the culprit. Most pain meds make you nauseas and even cause vomiting but since I've stopped taking them I haven't had a problem!
