Starbucks

I have always been a big coffee fanatic. Since surgery I only drink a cup or two a day of decaf with creamer, no sweetener. Every once and a while I used to go to Starbucks for a caramel macchiatto. I have no clue how to order sugar free, low fat drinks lol. Can anyone recommend something?

I order a chai tea nonfat which is with skim milk. But they have "skinny" drinks which can be any drink with sugar free syrup. I hope this helps.

Ahhh, ok. Thank you so much!

beckyloo4...I am also a coffee fanatic!

I allow myself one Starbuck's White chocolate Mocha a week as a treat...more because of the MONEY than the RNY!! But, I drink coffee at home all the time...and often use International Coffees' vanilla Cream Latte as my "creamer" and "sugar", so I stay under 10g carbs/sugars.

It works for me. As I was telling another bandster/RNY'er on here...if I keep my carbs/sugar under about 12g, I do fine with almost anything I want to eat/drink and I am still losing weight...albeit slowly. (I've lost 73 pounds overall)...but, my exercising is not good at all!! :(

You can also ask them to put LESS of the flavored syrup in it...I know when they had the pumpkin Latte, it was too sweet; I'd just ask them to use 1 pump of syrup instead of 3 and it was great...and I DID have whipped cream on top!! YUMMY! The White Chocolate Mocha is do-able with the lesser syrup as well...the whipped cream is not really bad for you at that level and being the "spray can" type.

All in moderation!!!

beckyloo4...I cannot have any artificial sweeteners (allergic), so I have to stick with the "real" thing. If you can tolerate the artificially-sweetened syrups, you'll definitely be able to enjoy your coffees!!

Just remember, some people have diarrhea/gas/cramping with artificial sweeteners, even if they didn't before RNY...just like some are lactose intolerant after surgery.

Sip,sip, sip....and enjoy!!!

I have the samoa girl scout cookie creamer that I use at home. I haven't had anything artificially sweetened yet. My creamer makes the coffee sweet enough that I don't need to use splenda. I've tried the sugar free syrups before surgery and I hated them. I'm hoping my tastes have changed lol

I tried Chike High Protein Coffee on the recommendation of someone in another group. I don't seem to like coffee as much as I used to and miss the caffeine to get me started in the AM. Chike has real espresso in it so I get a real caffeine boost. I make it in a blender with water and crushed ice. It doesn't have that 'protein' taste - it tastes just like a Coffee Coolatta! It's a regular part of my morning routine now. I even bought a blender for work so I can make it whenever I want to. :-)

I have been looking at getting some of that. Just haven't decided if I want to spend that much because I know I'll drink it just about everyday. I'm actually headed out to pick up some unflavored protein so I can make all different kinds of shakes. Sick of the same ol, same ol.

I know what you mean. It only came six days ago and it's half gone already! But it's no more expensive than my daily cup of iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts. I'm going to order two more containers tonite. :-)

I didn't realize they sold individual packets. I'm going to order some so I can try it before buying the big tub. I did manage to make it to GNC today for unflavored protein. I mixed a little in with my yogurt and scoop in my bottle of water with Crystal light. It was nice to know I'm getting my protein without the shake lol.

I drink the chike coffee protein too. I put it in the blender with ice and water and it is yummy. I buy the individual packets.

I'm a Starbucks junkie. I haven't been there since my surgery but I can give you some tips for ordering light.

Ask your barista for tips, usually they're really helpful as long as they're not slammed.

Everything can be ordered with skim milk which will give you some Protein and cut calories.

I also like to just get plain coffee with syrup. You could get a black decaf coffee with sugar free Carmel syrup.

Download the Starbucks app. It will show you which syrups they have that are sugar free and help you plan your drink out.
