Picking things up post-op

How long after my surgery (which should be in the middle of may or early june) before i'll likely be cleared to hold or pick up things that are heavy (ie. my 3 year old toddler, and my 2 year old toddler) assuming everything goes the way its supposed to? whats a general time frame--my mom is keeping the kids till im able to take care of them again after this.
