I had surgery a day before you, and my stomach is making all sorts of noise too. It's just gas! I will get this somewhat painful full feeling then I will feel a bubble come up and then I burp it out. Definitely going to take some getting used to. I've got the head hunger bad, too. Reading these helped a lot: http://www.livingafterwls.com/Library/Food%20Grief.html & http://www.livingafterwls.com/Library/Head%20Hunger.html#featured (it's geared towards gastric bypass but it's the same mentality that we deal with.) I also opened up a couple shopping tabs on my computer and "window shopped" online all the stuff I want to be able to wear. It really helped!

That said, I can't wait for pureed food lol.

I had my surgery last monday, I found myself almost crying today over my husband making spag bol for him and our son lol, head hunger is horrid and nothing prepares you for the emotional rollercoaster you go through.

When do you start your pureed food? I am in the UK and they had me on Clear Liquids for the first 2 days then from day 3 I have been allowed things like custard, Soup etc. I had a tiny bit of really soft mash potato today and have to say I really enjoyed it, it was the tiniest bit but made me feel so much better just to have something "normal"

I had surgery on 3/4 so today is one week post op. My dr has me on a two week liquid diet supplemented with Protein Shakes 3times a day. At first it was really hard with the head hunger but now it's not too bad. I make a lot of Soups homemade and that gives me a bunch of flavor which is definitely something I was missing. So that is definitely a huge help. I actually get to start my puréed diet on the 20th which I'm kind of excited for. I really want some mashed potatoes.

Today I am 16 days post op. I went to follow up with my surgeons office and they said I'm doing well above average on my weight loss. I also was able to start my puréed diet today (which I was excited about). I found out that I'm down a total of 39 pounds! That's from starting my preop diet! Now that I get to go back to work tomorrow I'm sure it's gonna start flying right off!

Well it's definitely been a while since I've updated my journey. I'm currently down 61 pounds in total and I am now 6-7 weeks post op! I feel great! I have so much energy and always want to be on the move which is definitely a change for me, but it's a good one that I enjoy. I've noticed that there are some things that I am not able to tolerate very well suck as bread, and sugar. But all in all I'm doing great

Well done on the weight loss and being more active. I am 7 weeks out and feeling great now. I am OK with bread the only thing I can't tolerate is pork, it just doesn't agree with me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
