I'm post-op just six days but I'm wondering when everyone started exercising after surgery. Right now I can hardly do my morning routine without needing a nap but I'm anxious to get back up and moving to get this weight off.

I started walking the day I got home from the hospital. I wasn't cleared to lift weights until my 10th week.

you deserve to take naps. do this for a couple of weeks and then do a little walking and then slowly increase your walking. main thing is NOT to do nothing after the surgery, exercising it the key.

Yep, I was only allowed to walk the first month, but was cleared for no restrictions after that. Everyone is different, though, so check with your doc. It's really his/her call!

I think it's pretty normal to need a lot of rest after surgery -- and frankly, I think if you feel tired that you should rest. I know that I was pretty exhausted. For nearly two weeks after surgery, I did a lot of sleeping and resting. I would force myself to get up and walk around the house or go to the grocery store, etc. I went back to work 13 days after surgery --- and I work on my feet. I would come home and feel absolutely beat! I couldn't have imagined working out, too.

About four weeks out I really started to get my energy back and then some. It's so much easier now. Now I get an average of 4000 steps at work and 5000-6000 on my treadmill.

My point is that everyone is different and you should listen to your body. :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
