Hello!

My name is Morganne and I am a little over 6 months post sleeve surgery. I am very pleased with my results and love my new life. I know this is very challenging once you get past that 6 month point. food seems to go down easier, you tend to be able to eat a little more, and food choices test you daily.

I am looking to start a support group in my area. I am hoping to meet new people on here and once we have a group going, plan a meeting so we can all help each other out. I have NEVER in my life done something like this but I can tell that "normal" people JUST DON'T GET IT!

My Dad had the surgery right after me and I am trying to get him interested in meeting with a group of people too. I was thinking a local Starbucks or something? I am open to discussion and would love to hear from people in my area. Once I get to know everyone, I will be more than happy to open my home for monthly group meetings. I think it would AWESOME to share recipes and even cook dinner at my house as a group.

I hope to hear from someone :)

Hi morganne!

I am in north Fort Worth, though Denton is not far from me, I do not make it there often, so not sure how committed I could be. I hope that you get a good response the same. It sounds like a wonderful idea.

I love the idea! I'm just down the road in HV/FM. I had my surgery five weeks ago at Baylor Grapevine, and though I attended the hospital-based support group, I didn't find it as supportive as I did informational. I know there is a group of DFW sleevers that meet regularly, but I think they're kind of from all over and they meet all over. Please keep me in the loop.

Amanda

I am looking for other women who can relate to me. I am a mom and a teacher and stay busy! I know that this is a struggle everyday. I think it would be awesome to make some new friends and watch each other transform. I really don't need to be informed like the support groups I have heard about. I want to build friendships with people who I can randomly text if I am falling off the wagon and have someone pick me up! lol My husband can't listen to it all the time! Lets give this forum a few weeks and see if we can get a response and find a good time to all meet.

I am scheduled for surgery February 10. I live in the FM/HV area. Would like to hook up with a support group. Do you know of any that allow men to join?

David -- best of luck on your upcoming surgery! I had surgery seven weeks ago at Baylor GV, and they have a monthly support group meetings open to both men and women. I know there are many other support groups in the area, but I've not attended any others. I hear there's a good patient-led one in Frisco. Maybe someone will pop in with specifics.

I found the info on another Dallas thread:

THINspirations Weight Loss Surgery Support Group

THINspirations is one of DFW's only patient-led support groups. We meet the 3rd Saturday of each month in the Plano/Frisco area. We used to meet at Season's 52 restaurant, but that is changing effective January 2014.

In the 11 months that THINspirations has been around its members have lost well over 2,000 pounds and counting as a result of WLS and hard work! The comraderie and friendships that have come from this group are nothing short of amazing as many of our members can attest. In addition to our monthly meetings, there are social events, walking groups and so much more.

Wanna be a part of what every other WLS patient is talking about? Email me, Kevin, at kev.lev@tx.rr.com to get on our mailing list and be a part of the success that is THINspirations!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
