Allergic to Protonix!

I'm 3.5 week post op. About a week after I got home I figured out I was allergic to the Protonix I was supposed to take for at least the first 3 months. Since figuring out my allergy my NP said stop taking it but didn't give me an alternative. Anyone have an OTC suggestion? I was thinking Tums? Any suggestions? I have a lot of acid today burning my throat!

Omeprazole or Prilosec is what my GI doc recommended I take if I did not want to pay for prescriptions for Protonix. I ran out of Protonix yesterday and started on omeprazole today.

Omeprazole is what I take too, have been since surgery almost 15 months ago - if I miss a day, I know about it!
