Hi you all, I am a Puget Sounder too, I live near Puyallup and am scheduled for May 15th with Dr Eric Harris at NW surgery in Edmond, he is not just a cosmetic surgeon, I suppose I will have the prettiest sleeve. I love the center, the people are so nice and they have the nutritionist and Psych people a day a week in Puyallup so its really convenient. Also they don't put you through the torture others have to go through pre-op that others have to go through. Some have to be on a liquid diet up to 3 weeks prior and they are hungry. I am finding the 40 carbs easy to follow.

Hello again everybody, glad to thread got refreshed :-) keep us updated in your surgery Lalise, you'll do great!

That cool beans! I wanted to go there before I knew my insurance did not cover out of network... That clinic has so many amazing reviews! You will do great! Apparently dr Jeff landers who is the group health surgeon orriganally practiced at puget sound. :) that makes me feel a little bit better about my own surgery. While beggers can't be choosers, I have been losing faith in my GH care. But I'm sticking with it for now... At least until I'm well past my surgery date. ;)

Good luck! Keep us updated!

Hi everyone! I am new to this group. I am from Skagit County and will be sleeved on June 25th with Dr Chock at NWWLS. I can't wait! So glad I found this Washington State sleevers thread :)

I am also from Bellingham :) I missed the last couple meetings but maybe we will meet at the next one!!?

Hello Ladies, I am a sleaver from Bellingham! I had mine done on April 4th of this year and I am shrinking faster than I know what to do with. I had mine done with Peter Billing at the PSSC and I have to say they are the most professional people I have ever worked with, shout out to Jennifer in the Bellingham office, you are my rock. (She is a sleeve patient as well) I am melting but i am hoping to go to my first support group this week and learn something new.

Yeah... Sorta, I have two more appointments. My psych eval and my orientation. Then I get my doc appointment and my surgery appointment. My orientation is in July, so I'm hoping surgery will happen by August. We shall see. :) thanks for asking!

Yikes Dylan those dates are really far out!! Im prb looking at surgery pretty far out then...maybe in winter time?!? Heres to time going by fast! or earlier dates opening up for us!! xoxoox ~~ Ang

Yeah.. Well considering I started my conversation with Julie last December.. It's been a long time coming.. Although the dates are still far away, they get closer every day. ;)

Where are you at in your process now?

So I have to say that my schedule is based on my availability rather than the Dr's schedule or my insurance, as I am totally self-pay. I am working two projects at work with lots of international travel, so I was aiming for a timeframe where I would have 4-6 weeks between travel dates. My remaining tasks are my followup with the sleep doctor and making my final payment, my surgery date is June 11th.

As far as my first inquiry, that was last June, I went to my orientation in August. ..

I have an appointment next friday for the pulmonary function test and my phone consult appointment with julie is june 12th (I thought it was weird to get a call for the pulmonary since I haven't had that first appointment with julie?) So im in the very beginning process. Crossing fingers itll be somewhat speedy...I couldnt handle it taking over a year wow!! Have you told anyone yet?? Ive told just my hubby, bestie and my mom..I dont think I want to tell anyone?? Esp the inlaws..I just dont want the Neg. ~~ Ang

I have told my family, a few select friends and my boss. So far the worst reaction was my sister. She pulled the "I know someone who knows someone who knows 5 people who have died from that!" card on me. Since my sister was the skinny one, I should have expected that, she has always tried to be the experienced all knowing wiser bigger sister to my chubby ignorant little sister. My cousin has had both the band and the RNY Bypass about 7 years later. She has gone from weighing 420lbs to under 250lbs. She is my hero. Her adult son just had VSG this past year and looks amazing, having already lost over 100lbs. I am confident this surgery is the right thing to do and I will hit that June 11th date come hell or high water. :-D

Yeah that is not all that normal.. But hey! Get what you can get! It's really all dependent on when the docs and when Julie is available. All the things I had to do that is on my check list.. Which you will get after your phone appointment.. I did all of that in less then a week.

I am super out about it. I first told my family, and some friends. And while some are more hesitant then others everyone is supportive. So, at school and work, and other aspects of my life I am not afraid to talk about it. I have met lots of friends of friends, who who ups strongly advise against it. I just smile and say, "fair enough, I know this is right for me." I hit them with kindness an they have no choice but to politely smile and walk away. I figure that there are a lot of people who are against tattoos yet I still have 11, and wear them proud. I'm considering WLS similar.. :) but being out is something that is easy for me. I'm out about everything... Why start being in the closet now. Also I am a very... Outgoing.. Bold 'in your face' sorta person.. So that helps.

Being out is not for everyone. As long as you feel the love and support around you weather that is from this site, your husband, or your pet. If you feel good that's all that matters.

:)

Hey Fellow Group Healthers! I am three weeks out from my surgery at group health in Bellevue with Dr. Landers--he was great!! I had a great care and no complications, and it has been really rather easy to stick with what they told me to do. As you point out the long wait is a huge downside - I would suggest calling customer service or emailing them a formal complaint that the backlog is causing you such a long wait, is in fact you want to move it along that is. It was actually suggested by people who work in the clinic that I do that, and it did help line along. Dr. Lander is not happy about the backlog, and he said it is partly artificial.

Anyway I just wanted to tell you, don't lose hope, and your confidence is well placed in his team.
