My wife and I are having plication in 3 weeks and are not planning on telling Anybody. Those of you that have had surgery, is it realistic that we can take this "secret" to our graves?

Do you mean keeping it secret from your doc also? That might be hard, but from everyone else it is definitely possible! Everyone I have told has been surprised. They expect someone with wls to lose like 30 lbs a month and with plication it is more gradual and you will be able to eat like a pretty normal person. I didn't tell my doc for several months, but after I developed gall bladder issues I had to come clean because they could see it on the ultrasound.

Oh, yes, I definitely think you'll be able to keep it a secret. People will probably notice that you're both losing weight, but you can just tell them that you've been dieting and exercising and it's paying off. In fact I recommend not telling too many people because they will watch you like a hawk and judge whatever you put in your mouth AND, if you're weight loss stalls or slows down, they'll wonder what you're doing wrong, since of course everyone knows that people lose TONS of weight rapidly with weight loss surgery so it must by your fault if that's not happening.
