Newly Banded: How quickly do you drink?

Recommended Posts

I have been drinking mostly with a spoon. I have been using the spoon in order to not drink too fast. Sometmes I gurgle a little or burp. I haven't had any pain or anything. I don't know what I am expecting to happen. I am only drinking liquids since just had surgery on 2/20. Do you pause between sips or spoonfuls. I have been taking a quick break....Is this necessary.

Appreciate any advice,

Thanks!!:)

I was banded 02/08/07, I drank from the dole 1 oz cups to keep my serving size in check, and then just sipped it. Taking about 15 min per drink. I envoyed warm drinks the best, as it felt soothing to my stomach. There are several threads that have some recipes, but my favorite was the chicken " Better then Bullion". If there is anything you and warm up and add garlic to, and then strain it out - that worked wonders getting rid of my gas! Best of luck, hope to hear more from you as you get started on this journey!

Thanks for the post...Now I am wondering am I thinking too much. Initially I was taking a sip every 5 minutes or so, then I realized that I could drink more quickly.

I have been drinking a lot more than 1 ounce @ a time. I don't recall seeing any specifications as to how much to drink @ one time. I am so busy trying to get in my Protein amount, that I really haven't paid attention.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
