Tri-Care Frustations (Need Help)

Soooo I finally got the ball rolling after going through the famous 6 months of monitoring my weight with a physician, Today I got the general surgery referral, I was soo thrilled, then I called the office to find out, this Dr. only performs the lap-band surgery, my problem is that I want the RNY, and tri-care was no help trying to find a general surgeon in the area who also specializes in bariatric surgery, or atleast can walk me through the general surgery part of it, just to get the approval from them and then be reffererd to a Dr who will do my surgery (which I am guessing will be in Atlanta).

So my question is....Has anyone went through this process, how did you work with it! AND...is anyone from Columbus GA and going through this, or have already went through it and can help a sister out!!! I feel like its just been one set back after another with Tri-Care!

I have Tricare as well. I just looked up weight loss surgeons in my area with great reputations and then I just called them up and asked if they accepted my insurance. I hope this helps.

I Have tricare and I researched the Bariatric programs in my area (Columbus, OH) then looked on the provider website for each Dr in the group to see which ones were covered. There were 3 in the group and one was covered.

I was referred by a friend. He is the best in the area. THE BEST! Do your research it matters!!!!
