can anyone tell me the reason behind not drinking carbonated beverages? Does it affect the outcome or have any side effects with the lap band? I have always heard not to...but never the reason thanks...

    IT HURTS!! That is one of the FEW no no's from my surgeon. I think that it possible can stretch the pouch, increases reflux, but its the carbonation that causes increased pressure. If I allow it to go flat I can have it- diet of course!

    I asked Dr. C that question and she responded there is no evidence to support that it actually stretches the pouch. You need to just be careful because it can aggrevate the pouch and you may PB or have a painful burp.
