Hello all Chicagoland people ..... I was approved by my employer insurance to have my lap band, but as luck would have it, we came in to work after news years day and was told that the company had ran into financial problems and promptly closed it's doors. Since I have been off and actively looking for work, I applied for a medicaid card so that my daughter and I can have medical coverage while I am off. I read that Dr.Bonomo at Mercy Hospital takes medicaid cards. If anyone here was banded by him I would love to hear all about it.

Hi, I'm new and I have just made some of my pre-op appointments.

I was hoping to ask some questions to someone who has been through all

of this. How long does a person keep the band inside of them? If is taken out after all of the weight is lost won't you just gain it all back in time?

What happens if you get a stomach virus? Is it dangerous to do all of the vommiting? Has anyone died that you've heard of or had a heart attack from the drastic drop in caloric intake? I have 4 children and 2 of them have severe autism and need to be taken care of for a very long time.

I am concerned about not being around for them but, If I don't lose this

weight, I won't be around either. I live in the Fox-Valley area in Illinois and I will have the surgery by Dr. Batty in Geneva. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I was wondering if anyone had there band done by Dr. Gibson from Gurnee @ Vista Care Center in Waukegan,IL I have an appt with him in April could use some help:help:
