What's Next?

I talked to my PCM last Friday. I have Tricare Prime for insurance. I was APPROVED by Tuesday. I called my surgeon of choice to set up an appointment. They sent me to billing and payment and the lady there said i have to go to the seminar. So we signed me up to attended a seminar on sept 22. After the seminar... what is next? what do i do after i attend the seminar. Do i make a consult appt? or can i make one now and just be after sept 22. i am so confused as to what i must do to get everything done.

Welcome Brittany!! Usually after the seminar they will make appointments for first consultation. At the first appointment you usually see the surgeon the nurse the dietitian and exercise physiologist. The nurse will go over your medical history. Your surgeon may have test that you have to get prior to surgery such as EKG, Endoscopy. And blood work. Each surgeon is different in what tests they want you to do

Also check to see if your surgeon has a website you can get more info from there too if they do

Thanks! I didn't know how they would do it because their seminars are free and everyone and anyone is welcome so i didn't know how they kept record of if you went or not. but then again she did register me for it so maybe their patients that they KNOW are trying to schedule a date for surgery will be kept up with. idk. lol this will be my first surgery other than my csections for my children. I tried researching my surgeon and i find nothing but good reviews for him. like everywhere i look people recommend him but i can't find anything that he requires for pre-op. his website isnt up and i cant find anything else but reviews. :(

When I went to my seminar the surgeons explained each procedure and went over complications etc..when the seminar was over you could either stand in line and make appointment then or call. I stood in line LOL when I first walked in they had paperwork for everyone to fill out and turned in before seminar started

oh ok. cool. i hope this one is like that. I have never been to any type of seminar lol. i guess i just wanna know when and how everything is going to happen step by step. there is no room for problems to occur lol. i want everything to go smoothly and to speed it up as much as possible because my husband is supposed to pcs soon. and i want to get this done before then. blah. i have 9 days until my seminar so i guess i will know more after that huh. :) thanks!
