So I know this may be TMI but I can't be the only person dealing with this issue... When I first got home I had diarrhea which I know is normal after surgery... Now, for the passed 2 days I am constipated.. I took 1 colace last night and 3 today... I know it says it takes 12-72 hours to work... I am getting 64 ounces of water and walking every day.. I am on full liquids right now... Should I be alarmed or is this pretty normal? Any words of wisdom would be great! Thanks y'all!

I have had no bowel movement since surgery on 9/16/13. I am wondering myself ...what is going on!

My surgery was 9/11.. I had horrible gas pains 4 days after surgery... I called my doc and he told me to take GasX and that helped a good deal.. Now I take it every time I go the "bathroom". Also from the day of surgery until about 4 or 5 days after I couldn't go... Pain meds, anesthesia, etc prevent you from a BM for a few days post surgery

Your gut goes to sleep like the rest of your body. Walking helps bowels to wake up. Narcotics & calcium supplements are constipated. U may be still experiencing the co2 gas pain that I referred to in another thread
