I was given the ok by my doctor a month after surgery.

You might feel fine before that but I would give it at least a month.

Same here, it was just about a month. Original paperwork said not to lift over 20lbs for the 1st 6 weeks, but at my follow up my surgeon said I was healed enough at that point that I shouldn't have to worry about it.
