Liquid Diet & Extreme Constipation! Angry!

I'm on the liquid diet Day 5 & I am in really, really bad shape. All of this Protein with no real food, especially Fiber from fruits & veggies is making me extremely sick!

Stomach cramps, the inability to go, I've been trying to use the bathroom since this morning. I've taken Miralax, Milk of Magnesia, suppositories. I'm in sooo much pain. This is making me question this whole process. It is not normal to be put on a diet for 14 days that does this to your body before a major surgery at that.

I broke the diet to drink apple juice, eat veggies & lettuce but nothing is working! My husband actually had to assist me in the bathroom to get some temporary relief. Get my drift ????

I'm really angry rt now - I think that alternate Pre-op diets that include Protein shakes as well as lean meat & veggies are healthier - than these synthetic drink & sugar free jello/Popsicle chemical concoctions.

I have proven through losing 25 pounds Pre-op that I can eat healthily- this Protein shake diet feels like I'm doing injury to my body-there is nothing healthy happening here ????

Something is not right. I will be calling my doctors first thing Monday. I'm not willing to suffer ...

On my pre-op diet I've been drinking coffee with heavy cream, broth, isopure protein shakes, crystal light, water and a little chicken at night. I've been on it for the past 8 days and have only pooped twice in that time. I think bowel problems are a little par for the course on the pre-op diet, whether it be diarrhea or constipation, but if you're in that much pain definitely call your surgeon. Also, our diets tend to be more low-carb, I've noticed. I've been on a very low-carb diet for the last 16 months and constipation is something that unfortunately comes with it.

Have you checked to see if you are impacted? If you need specifics, PM me. They call me the poop nazi at work for a reason. If impaction removed, or if no impaction, can try mineral oil enema. Let it dwell as long as you can. If no results, follow with a regular Fleets enema. But keep it going from the top as well, by using miralax or Senna S.

After you get cleaned out, to prevent problems, try this as well: FIRST thing in the morning. 1 cup warm, almost hot, Water, juice of 1 lemon and a bit of honey to sweeten. Drink first. Then coffee or other liquids if so inclined.

Yes I was impacted. My husband helped me to get it out. Terrible but I am having some relief now. I will definitely follow your suggestions! Thanks everyone for your input : )
