Post OP Day 3

Hello everyone. I'm finally home, three days in. I still feel weak. Doctor told me to sip on Water and Protein shakes. I know we're supposed to get in a lot of h2o, and pre-op I could get down 100oz+ easily. I'm barely a 1/3rd of the way through one 16 oz. bottle.

How long until your intake increased?

It is really hard at first. I'm 10 weeks out and still can only takes small amounts of fluid at a time. I miss gulping water when I'm thirsty! It will be a full time job to get those liquids in for a couple weeks. It will get better though.

On the flip side, I could drink 24oz in an hour by Day 6 and have no problems with fluids now (almost 4 weeks out).

You will fill weak for awhile, I thought I would stay that way since I could not get more liquids down. But I got stronger despite the liquid intake. I feel much better two weeks out and I am always cautious to keep fluids going so I don't end up in the hospital in the emergency room for dehydration. Good luck to you. Keep reading the forum for hints as I did. I learn daily how to manage new symptoms and challenges I had daily.

It does get better each day. It's also individual. Be encouraged and keep trying to increase your fluids waters and protein. Protein speeds healing.

Congrats

Took months for me. I can now drink up to 32oz during one Insanity workout, which is only about 45 min. I can also guzzle water again, which is the best thing ever. I can't guzzle anything else, tried it with milk and it ended badly lol.
